MoU singed under DBAR between CBAS and NRCT

The new Memorandum of Understanding was signed under the Digital Belt and Road Program between the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) and the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
Professor Huadong Guo, Chair of DBAR and Director General CBAS and Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director NRCT signed the MoU on behalf of the two parties.
The high-level Delegation from Thailand including Excellency Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister, Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand accompanied by Dr. Monthip Sriratana, Director DBAR ICoE Bangkok, Dr. Pakorn Apaphant, Executive Director, Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency in addition to Dr. Wenchao Xue, and Dr. Jerasorn Santisirisomboon joined the signing ceremony as witness.
The ceremony was also witnessed by Prof. Lin Hui, Prof Jia Gensuo, Prof Chen Fang and Prof. Yubao Qiu.
Under the MoU DBAR, CBAS and NRCT have agreed to continue to support the International Center of Excellence in Bangkok which is hosted by NRCT for next five years till June 9, 2030. The previous MoU between the parties expired on Feb. 27, 2023.

The ICoE will focus on promoting the achievement of several SDGs in Southeast Asian. The Parties will collaborate in areas including research and monitoring using earth observation technologies, capacity building, policy support, partnership development, and regional knowledge sharing. The Centre will also coordinate with the China-ASEAN Regional Innovation Center for Big Earth Data (CARIC) and other partners to enhance regional research, training, and innovation initiatives.

During the DBAR 2025 opening ceremony, Her Excellency Minister Supamas said that at DBAR 2025 there is a shared mission that is to turn cutting-edge digital innovations into actionable solutions for climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and pollution reduction. She expressed that the DBAR ICoE-Bangkok strengthens the DBAR Program and promotes international cooperation and exchange of expertise and digital technology.
She also emphasized the need to deliberate and understand suitable and effective processes and strategies for creating sustainable societies against the planetary risks of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution of all kinds.

This MoU was part of the 6 MoU signed between DBAR and different international partners to promote collaborative actions towards application of big Earth data for global sustainable development
