MoU signed under DBAR between CBAS and INAR

The Digital Belt and Road Program of The International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals, Institute for Atmospheric Earth System Research (INAR) at the University of Helsinki and Pan-Eurasian Experiment Program (PEEX) at INAR signed a MoU with a common objective to use Big Earth Data to support sustainable development in Eurasia. Both parties built upon previous MoU signed on September 9, 2017, to continue their collaboration to further their common objectives.  The MoU was announced during the 10th Digital Belt and Road Conference in Chengdu. The MoU was signed by Professor Huadong Guo, Chair of DBAR and Director General CBAS in Chengdu and Professor Markku Kulmala, Director of Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR) at University of Helsinki signed the MoU at Helsinki, Finland.

Both parties agreed to continue their existing cooperation and collaboration and continue to support the DBAR International Center of Excellence (ICoE) in Helsinki for next five years till June 9 2030, which is operationally hosted and administered by INAR. Focus will be on Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Action (SDG 13) and Life on Land (SDG 15). Both will work to carry out research on using Earth Observation technologies for research to address knowledge gaps and identify hotspots that may limit the achievement of SDGs. Both agreed to cooperate to develop partnerships, research network, and support services to decision makers. They will also collaborate on training and exchange of professionals and experts.
