What is DBAR?
Digital Belt and Road Program (DBAR) is an international science program for the sustainable development of the Belt and Road region using Big Earth Data. The vision of DBAR is to advocate for the integration of Big Earth Data applications in the design and planning of all development, environmental protection and resource management activities at local, national, regional and international scales undertaken within the Belt and Road initiative by the year 2025.
The mission of DBAR is to build a plurality of partnerships, engaging the public and stakeholders to design, develop and implement demonstration projects that illustrate the value of Big Earth Data applications for attaining sustainable development goals (SDGs).
DBAR is a pioneering international venture to share expertise, knowledge, technologies and data to demonstrate the significance of Big Earth Data applications for large-scale sustainable development.
Who should attend?
Digital Belt and Road Program Foci are clusters of outstanding research and development questions relevant to attaining SDGs in the Belt and Road countries. They are categorized into two parts, one is centralized on Big Earth Data, while other eight Foci are relevant to and addresses the sustainable development in agriculture and food security, climate and environment, marine and coast, disaster risk, high mountain and arctic, natural and cultural heritage, urban and infrastructure, and water resource and security. These Foci are addressed by a flexible system of DBAR working groups, task forces and network of international centers of excellence.
DBAR welcomes researchers and organizations with studies relevant to the DBAR Foci, or prospective research ideas on issues coinciding with DBAR Foci specially within developing regions or anyone interested in getting involved with DBAR Science Plan.
